The National Clonal Germplasm Repository at Davis – conserving genetic diversity of grapes and tree fruits

The USDA-ARS National Clonal Germplasm Repository in Davis, CA maintains diverse collections of 14 crops, including grapes and stone fruit. These collections are held as living plants and include historic varieties as well as wild relatives from throughout their native ranges. This germplasm is distributed free of charge and intellectual property to researchers and plant breeders around the world, and information is made available through the public database GRIN-Global. Dr. Claire Heinitz will lead a virtual tour through this valuable resource and how it impacts the industry and the clean plant network, and provide information on how stakeholders can interact with the collections.
