Hedges Family Estate is a family owned and operated winery on Red Mountain that promotes regenerative agriculture and biodynamic winemaking. We are seeking motivated interns to join our team for the 2024 season. Our team is small, and interns will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of cellar work, vineyard work and some hospitality work. Those looking for hands-on experience in a wide variety of winemaking and viticultural tasks will find the intern role at Hedges Family Estate very rewarding.

Work you will be asked to do but not limited to:

  • Bottling line work
  • Crop estimations
  • Vineyard record keeping
  • Vineyard sampling
  • Pressure bomb testing
  • Cellar work (barrel cleaning, topping wine, blending wine, sanitizing equipment, etc..)
  • Fruit processing
  • Fermentation monitoring
  • Fermentation management (pumpovers/punchdowns)
  • Forklift operation
  • Record keeping
  • Occasional help with events

Candidate requirements:

  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work long and variable hours on flexible days during harvest
  • Ability to lift 50 plus pounds, go up and down ladders, shovel tanks, grapes and various other items.
  • Reliability
  • Forklift experience is desired, but not required

Interns can expect to start as early as mid-August and work 40 hours a week up until harvest. Harvest, interns can be expected to work 5-6 days a week and up to 12+hours a day if necessary. Our winery is 15 minutes from town so a car will be required.

We hope to find candidates that are enthusiastic about the Biodynamic and Organic agriculture, as well as biodynamic and minimal input winemaking. Hedges Family Estate offers the experience of a small family farm and winery in the most prized AVA in Washington state.
