Your Typical Day In our hands-on, full time Winemaker role, you will enjoy a wide variety of operations experiences including:
- Supervise a team of assistant winemakers and cellar hands with oversight by Head Winemaker.
- Coordinate the day-to-day winery operations, including planning and writing cellar work orders without direct supervision.
- Decision making to guide the house style of white, rosé, and red wines. Prepare wines for bottling, ensuring specifications and stylistic desire are met
- Coordinate with pre-harvest preparations and decisions, including vineyard assessment as required
- Responsible for ordering any consumable materials needed to complete winemaking operations.
- Performing all cellar processes; including but not limited to cleaning/sanitation, crush pad operations, additions, fermentation management, pump movements, filtration and our inhouse bottling line
- Ensure all winemaking procedures are carried out in a way that optimizes quality and efficiency
- Record keeping of all wines made: movements, inventory, additions etc.. on winery software. Vintrace knowledge is highly favorable.
- Harvest and routine laboratory analysis
- Preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on various pieces of equipment
- Manage and drive compliance in OSHA, management systems and process improvements
About You:
- You have earned a bachelors and/or graduate degree in enology and have previous experience as a winemaker.
- You have proven to have strong sensory skills.
- You hold effective communication and collaboration skills with colleagues at all levels and functions.
- You are creative, flexible and keep cool under pressure.
- A strong work ethic with the ability to work well within a team environment as well as autonomously.
