2018 Harvest Internship, Double Canyon Winery, West Richland, WA

This position will be working primarily in the lab, but will have the opportunity to experience all aspects of the production process including cellar work. This lab is one of the newest and most well equipped wine labs in eastern Washington, housed in a state of the art winery. We will produce between 20,000 and 30,000 cases in the 2018 vintage, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. At Double Canyon we have a heavy focus on quality control and wine quality. We expect applicants for this position to exhibit the same focus along with a vivid desire to gain new experiences and learn new things!

Job Duties:

This is a list of the projected job duties however harvest is intense and there will be myriad opportunities to participate in the wine making process, some of the activities may not be listed.

  • Daily measurement of fermentation Brix and Temperature
  • Measurement of Brix, Titratable Acidity and PH on maturity samples
  • Wine Sample Gathering
  • Wine maintenance analysis including acetic acid and free S02
  • Wine analysis as requested by the winemaking team
  • Processing of wine grapes including recording truck scale readings
  • Winery Sanitation (Sanitize tanks, valves, etc.)
  • Crush pad duties
  • Cellar work as assigned
  • Participation in harvest research projects

The Qualified Candidate will:

  • Have a vibrant desire to learn
  • Have an understanding of the basic principles of chemistry
  • Be willing to work weekends
