Job Description
Trothe and Andrews Family Vineyards, a family-owned Estate Winery and Vineyard has an opening for the positions of Harvest Cellarhand.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and organized with a keen eye for detail to assist the winemaking Team with harvest related activities at our state-of-the-art luxury Winery. Trothe is a small winemaking team, and all are intimately involved in all processes. Fruit receival and sorting, lab work, fermentation management, daily organoleptic analysis, cap management, pressing, topping, racking, bottling and other general winery tasks.
Approximate Time Frame: August – November 2026. Exact terms are dependent on the growing season and candidate’s timeframe.
Our openings are an opportunity to spend the harvest immersed in all facets of grape processing, fermentation management, and pressing and gain exposure to intensive luxury winemaking practices.
Winery duties Include:
• Operating crushpad sorting, de-stemming, and press equipment
• Grape maturity sampling in the vineyard
• Fermentation management, monitoring, and analysis
• Maintaining winery sanitation
• Barrel, oak tank and concrete tank preparation and maintenance.
The schedule is 40 hrs/week, building up to 6 days x 10 hour shifts at the height of harvest, including weekends and evenings/early mornings. These positions are eligible for overtime pay.
Preferred Qualifications
Requirements:
• Passion for terroir and the connection between the vineyard and wine quality
• Previous winery and/or vineyard experience a plus
• Strong work ethic and self-starter
• Enthusiasm to engage in all winery and vineyard tasks
• Deep attention to detail
• Strong communication skills; competency in Spanish a plus
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Studies in viticulture or enology or related sciences is excellent
Working Conditions
• Most activities take place in Winery, lab, and vineyard environment
