
2025 WSU / WSGS Viticulture Field Day

$20Join the Washington State Grape Society and WSU Viticulture Extension for a morning of vineyard and IPM education! This field day will focus on management of grafted vines and rootstocks for soil-borne pest control, as well as grape mealybug mating disruption, monitoring for grape mealybug, and new sensor technologies that can improve spray applications!

Event Agenda
8:55 AM – Engaging Grape Growers for Participation in a LoRaWAN-driven network for heat mitigation in grapes, Lav Knot, WSU
9:10 AM – Rootstock, and Root-Pest Management, Inland Desert Nursery Team
9:40 AM – Carpool to second location
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Demonstrations #3-5 – This will be presented in a rotation format, to allow for smaller-group interaction. Participants will be divided into groups, and each group will spend 30 minutes at each station.
Stations include:
- Grape Mealybug Mating Disruption – Presented by Hayden Lenz and Sarah Chapman, Suterra
- Information on general mating disruption techniques, as well as lure density and placement will be discussed
- Grape Mealybug Monitoring – Presented by Michelle Moyer, WSU
- Information on the differences between mating disruption and monitoring will be discussed, as well as a demonstration on how to ID male mealybugs in pheromone traps.
- Sensor Technologies for Spray Applications – Presented by Gwen Hoheisel, WSU
- Different sprayer technology sensors will be presented, with a discussion on how to integrate them for improved spray applications.
