SUMMARY:2019 Research Review
DESCRIPTION:Washington wine industry members\, \nHere’s your chance to weigh in on which wine research projects are most important to you. Washington State wine grape growers and wineries are invited to participate in the Washington State Wine Commission’s annual Research Review on January 16-17\, 2019\, at the Clore Center in Prosser. Industry members will provide input on the research proposals seeking grant funding through the statewide research program. There is no charge for the meeting but pre-registration is required by January 11. \nThe Research Review is a key component of the industry-driven Washington State Grape and Wine Research Program\, which supports a diverse portfolio of viticulture and enology research. The Review gives researchers a forum to share results of ongoing projects and pitch new proposals to the Wine Research Advisory Committee\, a subcommittee of the Wine Commission that makes research grant funding recommendations to the board of directors for approval. \nNearly 30 proposals will be presented over two days. Industry members attending the review will be asked to rank the research proposals by importance. The industry feedback will be considered by the Wine Research Advisory Committee when it makes grant funding recommendations. \nThe statewide research program currently provides more than $1 million in research grants through a unique blend of state\, industry\, and private monies (Washington State Wine Commission\, Auction of Washington Wines\, Washington State University’s Agriculture Research Center and state taxes collected from all wine sold in Washington). For more information\, contact Washington State Wine Research Program Manager Melissa Hansen.
